Overview

Imagine the ability to trade without the need to buy or sell any physical stocks or assets.  Participate in global markets by trading with your view of market direction.  Financial futures can be used to hedge against undesirable risk exposure or to protect your stock holdings.  However financial futures are often leveraged.  As such a small movement in the underlying value can cause a large difference in the value of the financial futures.  This means that a small amount of initial money used for investing can result in an exponential gain or loss.

Ong First Tradition offers a wide range of global products.  Coupled with our 24-hour Futures Dealing Desk, Ong First Tradition provides you access to market information and prompt execution, enabling you to optimise trading opportunities beyond the local market.

Types of Financials

  • Stock Index Futures
    • Stock Index Futures are linked to the equity markets based on leading equity market indices such as Dow Jones, Hang Seng, Nikkei or Straits Times Index. Stock Index Futures are suitable for investors who are uncertain of which stock to invest in.  They allow investors to trade on the broader stock market without taking positions into individual counters.
  • Currency Futures
    • Currency Futures were first created at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and currently is the world’s largest, most liquid financial market. Some popular currency futures contracts include the Euro, the Yen, the Pound and the Swiss Franc.

  • Interest Rate Futures
    • Interest rate futures allow you to trade and hedge money market positions through your views on the movement of interest rates. Such contracts can be used to hedge against an existing or future interest rate risk.  Interest rate futures contracts include short term contracts such as the Eurodollars and long term contracts such as the T-bonds or T-bills.

  • Options
    • Options give you the right, but not the obligation, to buy or sell a specific asset at a predetermined price on a future date. Anybody, from speculators, arbitragers to hedgers can use options to take advantage of the price discrepancy or hedge against price fluctuations.
